The focus of this route lies in the water-rich
Zambezi (Caprivi) Strip of Namibia.

The focus of this route lies in the water-rich Zambezi (Caprivi) Strip of Namibia. A wilderness region with pristine riverine woodlands, mopani forests and grassy floodplains, entrenched in war history and stories of old. Experience unique overnight stays along the Kavango, Kwando and Zambezi Rivers and enjoy a less-frequented region of wilderness surrounding them. Wild camp in Mudumu National Park and experience close encounters with elephants at the famous Horseshoe Bend; enjoy game viewing from your riverside camp chair and even stay on a houseboat. Fishing, Mokoro Trips, cruises and bush walks are all possible activities to add to this Ultimate Caprivi experience.

Essentially a combination of the Honeymoon and Damaraland Routes. We advise at least 18 – 21 days for this trip. The route will take travelers from breathtaking desert landscapes of south & central Namibia to the boulder-scattered hills of Damaraland. Other bucket-list destinations can include Sossusvlei, Solitaire and not to be missed Swakopmund with it’s old German charm and adventurous activities. Brandberg & Twyfelfontein offers the incredible opportunity to observe desert adapted game like elephant, giraffe and even lion.

KAOKOLAND TRAVERSE
Explore the Kaokoland’s dry riverbeds with desert-adapted game, hot springs, grassland flats and some challenging 4×4 climbs.
ABOUT THIS ROUTE
Your route joins the Kunene River from it’s calm southern bends to the spectacular Epupa Falls. En route, the Kaokoland boasts rich landscapes of grassy plains and rocky mountain outcrops. Navigate the challenging Van Zyl’s Pass towards the breathtaking plains of the Marienfluss. Be on the lookout for the desert-adapted elephants, giraffes and lions. After traversing the Purros canyon, wild-camp in the Hoanib Riverbed and take a dip in the Ongongo hot spring. Not a route for the faint-hearted but an unforgettably beautiful experience in an unimaginably large un-fenced wilderness area of Southern Africa.
