Discover Namibia's

Damaraland

and Kaokoland

Truly a giant's playground

Rugged landscapes strewn with boulders, dotted with desert-adapted wildlife and steeped in rich cultural heritage - Damaraland, stretching north to the remote plains of Kaokoland, stirs the soul of any true adventurer. These untamed regions are home to the semi-nomadic Himba people and offer the warm hospitality of some of Namibia’s most far-flung lodges and camps. Traverse vast, dramatic terrain where ancient traditions endure and wilderness still reigns.

Seasonality is important to consider in Namibia; traveling early in the year may hinder your trip due to flooding, but the up side is experiencing glistening & green desert landscapes. The fairest weather is usually in Autumn and Spring, but Winter still offers balmy days and (mostly) moderate weather. December is a treat - Christmas festivities are everywhere, and crystal-clear swimming pools offer welcome relief from the heat.

Our Expert Opinion

For old and young alike, Damaraland is a treat! Geological formations that leave you speechless, tranquil sightings of desert adapted game roaming desert landscapes, dry riverbed 4x4 adventures and clambering the boulders scattered across the landscapes... all this and more can be experienced here.

We traveled the Kaokoland with our kiddies and it proved an epic adventure! To immerse your children in such vast wilderness, with no other option than to play with sand, rocks, leaves and water, is priceless. For older children, the history, geology, thrill of spotting desert adapted game and exhilarating exploration of rocky terrain on foot or bicycles is priceless.
