Living it up in Livingstone

Packed with adventure and activity, Livingstone is a popular starting point for self-drivers exploring Zambia. Set on the edge of the Zambezi River, it’s the perfect mix of excitement and culture. A day in Livingstone can be as action-packed as you like - enjoy an all-inclusive river cruise at sunset, take on the wild rapids with some of the world’s best white-water rafting, or soar above the Victoria Falls in a nimble helicopter, even dipping into the dramatic gorges below.

But Livingstone is more than just thrills. The town buzzes with life - colourful Chitenge fabrics brighten up the local markets, and friendly greetings are part of daily life. Its mix of history, culture, and laid-back charm makes it a unique and memorable stop. Whether you’re chasing adventure or soaking in the atmosphere, Livingstone is a gateway to a great Zambia adventure.

Our Expert Opinion

With such charming interactions with the local vendors, owners, staff and guides – we really love this little bustling town for a 2-night stop-over, so that travelers have time to enjoy the many activities on offer. For those who are fit and adventurous, white-water rafting is a MUST and seeing the falls and gorges from the sky is an absolute delight! What I loved about the boat cruise was the fact that it included food and drinks and that the guides were so well trained and attentive to each guest's interests. We managed to spot an African Finfoot on the island AND a family of ellies crossing the water at sunset, magic!
